Plants/Seeds
Our seasonal selection of garden plants changes almost daily during the spring and summer months. We search the best of local growers to bring you the widest choice of ideal plants for urban gardens, decks, balconies, and courtyards. We've got annuals, perennials, small shrubs, bedding plants, vegetables, herbs, and more.
Annuals are plants that germinate, flower, and die within one year.
Generally with gardening the term "annual" refers to a plant grown
outdoors in the spring or summer that survives for only one season. Annuals
are some of the most adaptive of all garden plants, flowering quickly, and
blooming for long seasons. Most prefer full or partial sunlight and an adequate
amount of water. Some common annuals include most vegetables and herbs, bedding plants like petunias and impatiens, and tropical plants grown outdoors and allowed to die when winter arrives.
Perennials are plants that live for more than two years. Garden
perennials usually refer to perennial herbaceous plants that
grow and bloom over the spring and summer months, die back during the
fall/winter, and then grow back in the spring. The plants return from their root-stock,
rather than seeding themselves like an annual plant does. Perennials
can live anywhere from two years to 3,000 years, like some trees! Perennials include many woodland plants and ferns, ornamental grasses, small shruby plants like peonies and lots more. Many shade loving plants are perennials, but there are many sunlovers as well.
Shrubs are a category of 'woody plant', encompassing a large number of plants and trees. Shrubs can be a great starting point as you begin planning a garden. They can help with

designating perimeters and adding layers to your landscaping or garden. Many shrubs respond well to pruning, which encourages new growth. A full range of shrubs exists from delicate ornamentals to evergreens and larger trees.
